Today we had a Meteorologist guest speaker come talk to our students about weather. He asked the students what it means when the weather is sunny and warm outside and one of my kids answered, "It means it's refreshing outside". I have no idea where these kids get these answers, but I love them! You just never know what they are going to say!

NYC Resturants
Like I said in my post yesterday, I spent most of my NYC trip eating. We ate at some amazing places that I thought I would share in case anyone was planning a trip anytime soon.
Friday Night we went to a great Mexican place, Dos Caminos, that had amazing cocktails (which is my favorite part of a nice/fun dinner).
Saturday for Bunch we went to this cute little restaurant called, Little Owl, which is located in the building that the apartment from Friends was in. It was a traditional NYC brunch location, very small dining room but extremely good food.
We spent most of Saturday walking around NYC then went to a NC based bar called, Brother Jimmys to watch the UNC basketball game. Then Saturday night we got dinner from a small Italian place called , Pepe Rosso. This place is also a very small restaurant, I'm talking has 4 small tables for dinning, but delicious authentic Italian food. It was located right in the neighborhood so we just had it delivered, the beauty of NYC...everything can be delivered.
Sunday for lunch we went to another great place called, Lure Fishbar. It was sooo good! It is an oyster bar type feeling much like 42nd Street Oyster Bar. They had the most amazing onion rings I have ever had, no lie!
We had drinks Sunday afternoon at Freeman's, which is also a very small traditional NYC feeling restaurant. They had amazing cocktails...let's just say he lit my drink on fire before he gave it to me!
I highly suggest all of these places if you're ever looking for a fun spot in The Big Apple!

NYC
Hope everyone had a great weekend! I just got home from a little weekend trip in NYC. I feel like I spent the majority of the weekend eating, they have to most amazing little restaurants! The weather was beautiful so we went to Central Park on Sunday. Now, I just have to get myself back into work mode for the rest of the week!

Thankful
I had the most wonderful Birthday that anyone could ever ask for! I got to see my amazing family, awesome gifts, and have a big night out with all of my friends. I started the day out going to Homegoods with my parents!!! However, we had to be back before the Carolina game. The on-going joke in my family is that my birthdays have to be planned around what time Carolina is playing. Somehow for the past couple of years I have shared my big day with a game, but I know how much my parents love watching it so I was happy to spend time watching the game with them while I got to open presents! My brother and Jordan came over to watch the game with us, too! After the game the whole family grabbed a late lunch at Cameron Bar and Grill and before I knew it, I was hugging my parents goodbye and making sure they took the right Beltline to get them out of town without getting lost! It didn't take me 30 minutes before I was missing them and calling to make sure they were having a safe drive! Thanks to a little cold from my sweet students, I also managed to lose my voice and by the end of Saturday night it was completely gone! However, that didn't stop me from having one of the best birthdays I have ever had! 21 of us went to dinner at Vivace and then took a party bus out on the town for the night! I had so much fun and am beyond thankful for everything and to everyone that helped me celebrate my special day!

Best Friends, Ever!
I honestly have the best friends in the whole entire world! Tonight one of them surprised me with the sweetest gift ever because she isn't going to be here this weekend for the big celebration! Not to mention, I have been dying to own this beautiful little gem so I can drool over each and every dress in the book! The best thing about it was that it was so unexpected and just one of the kindest things I could have ever asked for!

Facelifts
Since I'm about to turn another year older I decided it was time for a little facelift...for my apartment! Actually, since next weekend is going to be full of friends, family, and celebrating I took this weekend easy and was actually productive instead of worthless like every other weekend! I finally made that trip to Homegoods as well as finally swiffering my kitchen floor!
A new gold bowl and shell balls that now have a new home on one of my bookcases. |
After a trip to Michaels, I gave this little tray a facelift with this cute pattern. |
And also, I finally bought frames when I was at Michaels for these amazing prints that I have been dying to put on my wall. |
Last week was a full week at school so I need a weekend to just rest and get ready for the next.

Happy 100th Day of School! |
My Babies, I can't believe it has already been 100 days! |
We watched the 1st Grade 100th Day Parade |
Made necklaces with 100 Beads...that are also all over the floor now! |
We colored pictures of what they think they will look like when they are 100. |
Check out those teeth |

Birthday Month!!!
Happy February!!! It's February 1st, which means 10 more days until the big 2-6. However, I usually like to celebrate the whole month of February so my first couple of birthday presents today included....
1. I finally got my work lap top back! This is actually a BIG DEAL, considering all of our assessments are completed online now and it is much easier to carry my laptop around to the students rather than having them come over to the early 2000 edition of the desktop we have in our room!
2. One of my little Angels brought me flowers. He picks them out of his yard and brings them every single day, it is adorable!
3. Since it's a new month, we finally got paid again and I no longer have to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner every night! And, that also means I can finally take a well deserved trip to Homegoods tonight to check out any new things they might have in! I've been wanting to spruce up my apartment a little lately and I have a feeling tonight is the night!
Another reason I love February is the amount of holidays there are to celebrate at school! Teaching kindergarten kind of goes hand-in-hand with holidays. Everything we do is somehow connected to whatever holiday is coming up. Tomorrow is Groundhog's Day, Friday is the 100th Day of School, My Birthday (DUH!), Valentines Day, President's Day...etc. So expect a lot of really cute pictures this month of my angels getting crazy! Also, Happy Hump Day!
