Almost There...

There are two MAJOR jam packed days left between me and SPRING BREAK!!!  Tomorrow is our Easter Egg Hunt, then Thursday is our Field Trip to Marbles Museum.  If I survive these two days, I will post some pictures this weekend!  Even though it's only Tuesday, this week has already had its trials and tribulations.  Monday (yesterday) was picture day.  However, Miss Jones completely forgot about this since Monday's are always the most difficult day to get motivated to get out of my wonderful bed.  Then today, Tuesday, we had quite the excitement in Miss Jones' Class.  My babies seem to be as clumsy as me, and today one managed to trip over his feet while running...resulting in having to call 911 and an ambulance showing up on our playground...just wonderful.  This is my second year teaching, and my second student to ride in am ambulance because of a leg injury from the playground.  I swear...it has nothing to do with me...it MUST be the playground...especially today, he just literally tripped over his feet while running.  Good news is, he just bruised his knee pretty badly, but to a 5 year old that pain pretty much feels like their leg is falling off.  By the time the ambulance arrived he was standing up and walking on it, THANK GOD!  Last year the result wasn't so lucky...let's just say I spent a whole day in an Emergency Room with a screaming 5 year old who's parents were practically impossible to contact.  Emergency contacts are a serious thing, people...make sure those numbers work!!!  On a positive note, the weather last Friday was absolutely beautiful so I let my kids read to each other outside and enjoy the sunshine.  We call it Buddy Reading.  Wish me luck for the rest of the week, clearly I'm going to need it if my luck continues like it has been this week!

St. Patrick's Day Festival

I had such a fun time this year for St. Patrick's Day!  We went downtown for the St. Patrick's Day festival in Moore's Square and went on a bar crawl to some bars we don't usually go to!  It was really fun checking out new places, some I've never been to before and some were old time favorites.  We started off at London Bridge, then went to Rum Runners, Moore's Square (Actual Festival), Busy Bee, The Point, Churchills, and finally ended the night at The Bison Bar.
Of course we had to stop for the puppies, and it took everything she had for Jessie to walk away...just look how much that little puppy loved her.
My beautiful friends!
I'm not sure what a pirate was doing out on St. Patrick's Day, but  he was certainly enjoying himself!
Things started getting serious when the hunting started...G is getting some intense advice!
And then a dancing ninja turtle showed up to our party!
I wish every weekend was St. Patrick's Day, except maybe minus all of the green.  I just don't have that many green items of clothing!  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Gearing up for St. Patty's Day!

So since St. Patrick's Day is on a Saturday we are going to start the party early and celebrate tomorrow!  My kids are all going to wear green and we are going to count lucky charms...it will be great (or terrible, depending on how you feel about kids!)  To get ready I decided to try out my very first pinterest influenced idea.  I found a recipe for Leprechaun Lunch and decided to make it for my little Leprechauns.
It's made with popcorn drizzled with white chocolate and sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles and green M&Ms.  And yes, I did have to go through the whole bag and pick out just the greens, my babies sure better love.
I also painted this cute little sign for my TA's birthday.  She has 3 Granddaughters who have a little room in her house and I think she will love this little sign to put in there!

Monday....

Oh, Monday.  Mondays are never fun, especially right after a time change.  It was so hard to wake up this morning, I had to literally roll out of bed.  But this little note this morning from one of my students did bring a smile to my face!
However, I was definitely not smiling about how he was acting on Friday.  But that's the fun thing about working with kids, they can always make up for how they acted with a sweet little note and a smile.

St. Patty's Day

Next weekend is St. Patrick's Day, so this coming week we will be doing a lot of St. Patrick's Day activities and lessons.  Little Leprechauns have already started popping up around our classroom!

Weekend

I can't believe the weekend is already over.  I spent most of it just being lazy and finally catching up on lesson plans and laundry.  However, Saturday night I was lucky enough to get invited to go to the ballet.  One of my friends had an extra ticket and the piece was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!  What was even cooler was that one of the dancers is my friend's cousin and after the show we met up with her for a late dinner.  If I was still a child, I would have probably asked for her autograph...but, I'm a big girl now and instead just grilled her with a million questions! I had never thought of going to the ballet before when I'm not in a big city, but after Saturday night I will definitely be going back.  Thank you so much, Charlotte for inviting me!
Today, I dedicated to rest and relaxation.  I made a huge pot of chicken and pastry in my crockpot and watched Sex in the City all day!  If you get hungry feel free to stop by, I have enough chicken and pastry to feed a small town.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Friday was Dr. Seuss' 108th Birthday.  In kindergarten, this is celebrated like a holiday much like Christmas.  We spent the whole day doing fun, Dr. Seuss themed stuff from some of my favorite books and wore our pajamas to school (one of my favorite parts of teaching 5 year olds)!  We also had a local fire fighter come and read a Dr. Seuss book.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!
How cute are these Loraxes?  The writing prompt was, "I can help the trees by..."

My Lovebugs

The moon, how great is that?
Mars, even though she made it blue instead of red, I was still really proud of her creativity.
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish graphing and counting activity.
