Happy Thursday

Here's a little kindergarten humor to get you through the rest of the week!  Saturday is Dr. Seuss' Birthday so all week we have been working with different books and doing different activities based around his work!  My kids are loving it!  However, one of them continuously calls him "Dr. Jesus" (pronounced in Spanish) because they sound so much alike!  It is so cute!  Hope everyone is having a great week, only one more day until the weekend!

Busy February

I can hardly believe this is the last week of February!  February has definitely been a busy month, but it has been full of so much fun that I can't even complain!  After my birthday weekend we headed to Charleston the following weekend for The South Eastern Wildlife Expo. 

 The convention center area was packed full of artwork, collector guns, and other shopping vendors.  One of the coolest things I saw was wine bottles that had been wrapped with canvas and painted with wildlife scenes.  If you want to drink the bottle, you can take the canvas off the bottle and get it framed or just leave it on the bottle to display...I know what the hunters in my family will be receiving this year for Christmas!  It's such a great idea for a unique gift! 

 

One of the other vendors in the shopping area that I found really interesting was selling bowties made of different types of bird feathers! 

  Saturday night we went to the Southeast Wildlife Expo Soiree.  They have a live band and open bars along with local food vendors who were handing out delicious food including oysters, barbeque, local seafood, as well as some of the more unique foods like alligator!

Then Sunday before leaving to head back home we stopped by the Dockdogs contest where they had hunting dogs competeting for longest jump and highest jump. 

 

 After a fun weekend in Charleston, we spent last weekend in Charlotte for an Engagement party.  However, this weekend we are heading back to Charleston for The 2013 Unmasking Colon Cancer Gala.  So once again, I'm really excited to get back to Charleston and hope this week goes by super fast!  Not to mention we are celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday in class on Friday so it will be a packed day/weekend!

27 years and counting

Yesterday was my 27th birthday and this has been one of the best birthdays I've ever had!  I know I say that every year, but I really did have a wonderful birthday and am so thankful for each and every person that helped me celebrate!  I am a very lucky girl and I can't think of a better way to turn 27 then celebrating with the best friends and most wonderful family a girl could ask for!

Since my birthday was on a Monday, I celebrated with everyone I loved over the weekend!  My parents came up Saturday to take me to a birthday lunch and then we watched the UNC basketball game with them before they headed back to the beach!  OF COURSE, UNC had a basketball game...it just wouldn't be my birthday without sharing it with a UNC basketball game!  They lost...GO PACK!   

 That night we had a few couples over for cocktails and appetizers before we went to a late dinner downtown at Oro.  It was delicious and I am so thankful to each of my sweet friends for taking time out of their busy weekends to come celebrate with me!  After dinner we walked down the street and did some dancing before calling it a very successful birthday night!

 I had an amazing time celebrating and the fun continued throughout the day on my actual birthday.  We had a planning day at work, so unfortunately I didn't get to spend the day with my little Angels.  However, I did get to spend it with the girls I teach with and since it was a planning day that means we got to go out to lunch instead of staying at school!!!  We went to La Cocina where the sweet girls on my team had the wait staff sing to me...it was a first, celebrating a birthday at a Mexican restaurant, being sung to, and having to wear a sombrero WITHOUT the presence of a margarita!  I guess that means I'm growing up!  And one of my sweet friends I work with bought my lunch, which was too kind of her! 

After work I got home to another surprise, a zappos box waiting at my door from my sweet boyfriend (Thank you so much)!!!  I've been wanting some Ugg slippers and it was the perfect way to end a busy Monday!

After a few hours of catching up on my DVR one of my best and closest friends, Robin, took me out for and treated me to champagne and desert!  It was absolutely the perfect ending to a wonderful birthday!  Thank you so much!!!  I am such a lucky girl, and I can't wait to see what this year has in store for me!
