Halloween

Happy Halloween!  Truth is every girl has wanted to be Cinderella once or twice in her life...true story, I dressed up as Cinderella for 3 years in a row when I was little.  A little brown haired version, of course!  Gwen Stefani did an AMAZING job this year dressing up as Cinderella...it was honestly the last person I would have guessed would do this so well but she was perfection.  She looked absolutely stunning and if I had access to a prop closet and stylist I would totally dress up as Cinderella, again.
Now where is that cute Price Charming of her's, Gavin Rossdale

Pumpkin Patches and Christmas Trees

Wow, this week has been crazy!  We worked on some cute Halloween projects like these cute pumpkin and candy corn ABAB patterns.
Friday was our big field trip to the pumpkin patch and corn maze!  It was freezing!!!  But, we had a great time and am very thankful that Monday (Halloween) is a workday!!!  My kids looked adorable in their field trip t-shits thanks to my good friend Traci and Carolina Made who printed them for us!

Me and my babies...and yes, the little guy on the end of the front row has his hood covering his entire face (completely normal)!
This was a rope maze that kept them busy for a good 15 minutes!

This is a monster truck play ground with slides and everything, any little boy's dream!

Yep, this playground was equipped with a cow milking station...they could milk a fake cow and water would come out...kind of weird but they were obsessed!
After a fun day at the farm we were exhausted!
Saturday I went to the grocery store and found one of my favorite things, ever!!!
CHRISTMAS TREE CAKES!!!
Can we just skip Thanksgiving and go right to the best holiday ever, Christmas!?!?!  When we can watch Elf all day and eat yummy red and green treats to help celebrate Baby Jesus!  And of course, Party Season...the season full of sequins and fur!
Yes, please!

Can't wait!

More Updates

So, since I posted my last post we have been really busy in my classroom working on fall/Halloween things.  Thanks to a wonderful teacher who has an AMAZING blog, Doodle Bugs Teaching, I found the cutest idea for our spider unit.
However, I had to add some instructional elements to the cute spiders so I could justify making cute crafts!  Our school is an International Baccalaureate Magnet School, (also known as an IB Magnet School) which basically means we incorporate other countries in to everything we teach.  So, I incorporated some Spanish flare to our creepy crawlers!

On little sentence strips under the spiders, I had my students write, "This is my spider." Then on the line underneath that they wrote the same sentence in Spanish, "Esta es mi arana."
We also had color week...unfortunately I only took pictures 3 out of the 5 days.  I missed red and blue day but orange, yellow, and green are enough for you to see how cute it was!

I also made a cute little candy corn game where they have to match he capital letter, lowercase letter, and letter sound picture.  They loved it!

AND.....believe it or not, I do have a life outside of my classroom.
One of my favorite people came in town for a UNC game
Garison and Jim had an amazing stock the bar party at Jessie's house.  It was a perfect fall themed party complete with an oyster roast, hay bales, and a low country boil.  Jessie and Mason did an awesome job with all the small details that made it so great!
I also went to a little birthday party for one of our good friends, Stephanie on Wednesday night!  Happy Birthday, Steph!
This is clearly not from Wednesday night, but I didn't take any pictures that night of the birthday girl!
Hope everyone has a great week, I can't believe Halloween is just a week away.  We are going on a field trip to the pumpkin patch and corn maze Friday, so I will have some cute updates for next week!

Room Updates...Classroom and Home!

Last weekend was the first weekend I did not have something important planned so I got to do whatever I wanted...it was really nice.  On Saturday I had a yard sale...well, my school had a yard sale and I used this as an excuse to clean out my closet and make money off of it, too!  Then I went to the pool since its 75 degrees in OCTOBER!!!!  Sunday, I built a new little home for my boots...and I love it!
I also found a home for some of my favorite nail polishes.
I also have already given the little wooden box I bought and painted last month another facelift...
Much better, never really loved the gold and blue together.
Since I was so rich from my yard sale Saturday, I decided to go to Homegoods and blow it all on some cute things for my kitchen.  My kitchen is one of the last things that needs some attention so I hooked it up with a few accessories this weekend.
The silver bowl and tray were two items I luckily scored from my family and I have finally found some cute things for them to hang out with.
My bookcases also got a few photo updates, MUCH needed!
And now a few classroom updates...
We did a little lesson on everyone's favorite childhood book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Here are my little angels working hard.
We also made a color graph.  To keep in season, I got them to color a pumpkin their favorite color then we graphed them as a class.
...and have started a new reading technique called The Daily Five and CAFE.  We are just getting started with it.
ALSO...How could you not fall in love with these two videos...
Yes, I get my kids to tell me how much they love me...You would too if it were this cute!
This week is color week.  We have to wear a different color everyday.  Today was red, tomorrow orange, then yellow, green, and Friday is blue!  I will post some pictures of this next week!

Helppppp, I'm stuck!

Since I teach kindergarten, we have a bathroom conveniently located in our classroom!  Yay!  However, today right before lining up for lunch I hear a loud, "helpppppppp!"  Followed by a "I'm stuck!"  One of my special angels had managed to FALL IN...not exactly my favorite type of fishing but you have to do what you have to do!  Happy Thursday!
I think I would be scared if I fell in to this too!
